Emergency vs Normal Sewerage Tanker Services: Plan Ahead

Emergency vs Normal Sewerage Tanker Services: Plan Ahead

Overstrand Municipality’s current service arrangements will remain in effect over the upcoming public holidays. Tanker services will continue throughout the holiday period, including the long weekend that form part of Christmas Day and Boxing Day. The normal waiting time for tanker services is three working days.

All tanker service requests received during this holiday period will be processed and treated as ‘normal/standard’ requests, in line with standard operational procedures and approved tariffs.

  • Services are billed at standard rates per 5kl/6kl or part thereof.
  • Always indicate whether a full tank or partial pump-out is required when logging your request.

EMERGENCY: “Come quickly – our drain is overflowing”

The exception will apply strictly to emergency situations such as sewerage overflows requiring urgent attention.

Emergency sewerage tanker services are available and will be rendered within 24 hours where a situation poses an immediate risk to health, safety, or essential service delivery. These services are billed at the approved double tariff per 5kl/6kl or part thereof.

Residents must clearly indicate when a request is classified as an emergency, as all emergency requests will automatically be billed at the double tariff.

We encourage residents and establishments such as guesthouses, to plan ahead when requesting tanker services.

Please note:

Residents are kindly reminded that monitoring and maintaining conservancy tanks is the responsibility of the property owner. To assist with timely planning, the level of your conservancy tank can be easily monitored using simple devices. Options such as a ball valve on a stick or an ultrasonic level indicator can help ensure that services are requested well in advance.

BOOK A TANKER: App or phone

Advance pre-scheduled bookings are not accepted.  Using the Citizen App is a convenient way to log requests, and we receive excellent feedback from users, as it allows them to track the progress of their request from start to finish and view updates in real time. Alternatively phone the Municipal Contact Centre Number 028 313 8000/8111.
